FRC 2021 Day 2: We are angels, blessings to others

by Joshua S. Dela Cruz and Anna Sophia DG. Marasigan

FRC's second day of the novena-mass in honor of the Queen of the Holy Rosary centered on the celebration of Feast of the three archangels with the theme "Maria Inang Mapagkalinga ng mga Kristiyano".

The mass presider, Rev. Fr. John Patrick Gumasing, Parochial Vicar, gave light to everyone about how we can be angels to others through showing the presence and love of our Lord to our neighbors.

Fr. Gumasing emphasized in his homily the role of the Three Archangels: St. Michael as our protector; St. Raphael as our healer; and St. Gabriel as God's messenger. He also mentioned that everyone can be an angel and we can also have the presence of God in us.

"Ang gusto ng Panginoon ay makita ang presensya Niya [sa atin]", he added. Futhermore, Rev. Fr. Gumasing encouraged us to be angels on our simple ways: we can help others as a means of showing the presence of God. It may not be as great as what the archangels did, but we can also be like them in our own little way.

Like St. Michael, we can also be the protector to other people by keeping them away from wrongdoings. Like St. Raphael, we can also be the healer to other people as we lend our hands to those who are in need or sick or simply forgiving those who have wronged us. Like St. Gabriel, we can also be the messenger as we spread the teachings and Word of God to our family, friends and other people.

Today's words from Fr. Gumasing can spark us, Dominicans, to start bearing the presence of God and for us to be angels who will be kind to others without waiting for anything in return.

We can be the ones who give shed light to others not just by being proud Dominicans, but as angels sent by the heaven above.
