"Ang kapayapaan ay nakabase sa kaayusan ng ating mga prayoridad sa buhay”. ["Peace is based on the order of our priorities in life."]
As FRC marched to its culmination, Rev. Fr. Herminio V. Dagohoy, OP on Wednesday mentioned that one of the indicators of reaching the right age or adulthood is the ability to make decisions at liberty in one’s life while those who are not mature enough cannot make decisions all by themselves.
Fr. Dagohoy highlighted the significance of making sensible decisions because these life choices will shape people’s priorities—the most important and the most meaningful.
After all, even one’s small decisions must be adjusted to align the truth with his/her priorities which will ultimately bring him/her peace.
Success in life requires the key competency of being able to set priorities. This skill is crucial to the faithful who wish to live by their devotion to God.
Unfortunately, many faithful missed the true meaning of being God’s devoted disciple. However, once they embrace its true essence, their lives will be transformed and they will become loyal beacons of God, guiding others towards Him.
Understanding people’s priorities implies awareness of their decisions. They will always be dependent on their parents' decisions and guidance as long as they live with them.
People’s lives today honor the selfless sacrifices their parents made to raise them well. The desire to acknowledge their unwavering love persists, no matter how old people become.
Fr. Dagohoy introduced the two priorities that hinder prioritizing God: the priority of the heart and possessions.
"Our love for God subdues all other forms of love."
Faithful’s amount of love and sacrifice for loved ones is truly admirable. However, this pursuit must not overpower their one true priority: God.
It is important to cherish loved ones as they are among the priceless blessings God has given us but it should not hinder the love we have for God.
Loving Him should not follow any condition and should always come first.
"When we begin to enjoy the gifts and consider the gifts as our entitlement, we will forget the giver of the gifts."
In a generation where materialism exists, it is easy to overlook the giver itself.
Every time people’s loved ones give us something, they smile at the thought of it, not because of the material value or price of the gift but because of the love and thoughtfulness of the giver. .
Similarly, the faithful’s appreciation for God’s gifts comes from our thankfulness for His unending love and generosity.
Making God the center of people’s priority will allow them to have the power to handle everything.
God rejoices humans’ aspirations toward a brighter future. However, when they place their education or career goals between their relationship with God, they fail to follow their commitment to being faithful to Him.
Temporary happiness from earthly possessions cannot compare to the lasting joy from the Divine and Intangible. True happiness cannot depend on the fleeting nature of material possessions.
Understanding people’s brief and fragile lives comes in the face of death. Putting God at the center of their lives erases the emptiness of their existence, and fills us with life.
One must reconsider his/her priorities in life because even his/her sharp minds cannot fathom the ultimate reward that awaits him/her in the afterlife with the Almighty.
