Fr. Malijan, O.P. emphasizes faithful's "helping hand" on FRC’s 6th day

by Clarence Anthony Jason Pineda and Marisol Castro, OD Senior Staffers

Rev. Fr. Mandy Malijan, O.P. preached about the act of helping others in his sermon on the 6th day of the 28th Family Rosary Crusade, October 3, Monday.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan introduced the two greatest commandments. Fr. Malijan highlighted the coexisting importance of loving one’s neighbor as a sign of one’s love for God. When a Christian is close to God, they ought to bear the fruit of fellowship.

Fr. Malijan recounted his experience of joining an Open Category Marathon. He explained that he sees the race’s value in assisting fellow runners for them to reach the finish line together.

“Sa ating pag-aaral din, tayo’y nagtutulungan upang makatapos. (In our studies too, we are working together to graduate),” he related.

Students must also march without leaving anyone behind in pursuit of their hopes.

No man is an island, entire of itself. Salvation is not merely a self-effort.

Rev. Fr. Malijan, O.P. reminded Dominicans of their role in helping others climb the path of heaven.

“Hindi lang ito rosary crusade, mayroong family. (This is not a rosary crusade only, there is family),” he said.

Fr. Malijan dwelled on the synod’s trust in working together that people entail on a journey of communion, participation, and mission.

He also pointed out the renewed joy in praying after more than two years of missing the in-person celebration of the Family Rosary Crusade. Along with this excitement, he called on Dominicans to rejoice in communing, participating, and working together in mission.

The day's mass presider ended his homily with the assurance from God: “Hindi kayo maiiwanan. Tutulungan Ko kayo. (You will not be left behind. I will help you).”
