SDA's AP club wraps up UN Month celebrations via colorful, creative parade of talents

After weeks of preparation, the United Nations’ Month 2023 wrapped up its celebration last November 11, 2023, with the theme: Equality, Justice, and Freedom for All.


Masters of Ceremony, Mr. Joseph Joaquin Angeles and Mr. Mark Amiel Yumena enthused Dominicans as they gave an energetic and enthusiastic introduction to the program.


In Mr. Angeles and Mr. Yumena’s remarks emphasized the essence of the synodality and harmony of Dominicans as one family.


Mr. John Clarence Espino, the President of the Araling Panlipunan club introduced the panel of esteemed judges for the Parade of Nations: Mr. Justine Mark Bernabe, the Guidance office Head and Associate for Grades 10-12, Ms. Ane Vivien Cruz, the Guidance Associate for Grades 7-9, and Mr. Marvin Magnabihon, the English Subject Area Team Leader and Senior High School Coordinator.

"Let us draw inspiration from the interconnected nature of this concept and their potential to bring about positive change, we shall engage to be full with dialogue, explore innovative solutions, and most importantly play determined actions that align with our mission of more peaceful that we have all in just room," Mr. Romy-Mar Landingin said in his opening remarks.


Mr. Landingin highlighted the culmination’s purpose of reminding Dominicans of their core values that are the heart of the community and that everyone is called upon to take action in promoting equality, justice, and freedom for all.


SDA’s Dance Alliance performed a jaw-dropping performance as they showcased their dancing skills and charisma to the Dominicans in their doxology and dance performance.


Then, the most anticipated part of the United Nations celebration began, the Parade of Nations which consisted of male and female representatives from each section in all grade levels. They represented countries assigned to them (Sections from Grade 7 represented Asian countries, Grade 8 represented European countries, Grade 9 represented African countries, Grade 10 represented North American countries, Grade 11 represented Oceanian countries, and Grade 12 represented South American countries).


The array of students’ costumes were made of recycled materials, showcasing their unique and ingenious creations inspired by the diversity of each country they represent. The creativity they exhibited materialized not just with the costumes but with their eye-catching props and engaging performances representing selected UN-member countries.


Afterwards, Ms. Jowilyn Suarez tantalized everyone’s hearts as she performed ‘Isang Mundo, Isang Awit” which conveyed the message of diversity and the harmonious connection of everyone despite their differences.


Talents and works for the contests prior to the culmination day were recognized before the final announcement for the winners for the Parade of Nations.


Before the program ended, Mr. Dean Vasallo, for his part, expressed his gratitude to everyone who participated and facilitated the program.
