“Family is the center of education, love, and church.”
This is what Rev. Fr. Paulo De Freitas Lindo, F.A.M stated in his homily as St. Dominic Academy of Pulilan Inc. embarks on its 4th day of the Family Rosary Crusade, September 30, Saturday.
Day 4 coincided with the Feast of Saint Jerome, Patron Saint of Translators, Librarians, and Encyclopedists.
Fr. Lindo shared three main points with Dominicans and guests as the Gospel of Matthew (24: 4-13) taught that the family is the center and body of Christ where faith lives.
Day 4’s mass presider shared his first point: Education is the Christian Moral. He emphasized the significance of Christianity within Dominicans’ educational framework.
Church begins in the family and parents are given the sacred duty of instilling moral values and shaping the children as faithful Christians—an obligation that seems to have been forgotten nowadays.
Following the first point, he addressed the importance of lifetime decisions the faithful will make. He added that everything is changing at a rapid pace in parallel with society.
Fr. Lindo shared insights about Bauman’s book “Liquid Society” which explores the idea that our society is liquid, meaning it has no form and can be changed from time to time.
“Then be attentive, if everything changes too much, you stay in the Word of Jesus. Follow the example and the values of the Gospel,” the mass presider said.
With everything rapidly evolving, the faithful should ask guidance from the Lord in order to have sound decision-making skills.
His third and last point is about being a family itself. At this time, Dominicans express themselves so much that they are slowly forgetting the teachings of God.
He reminded the Dominican faithful that God is the true definition of a family as exemplified by Mary and Joseph who became a family for Jesus.
“Family is something that remains for the whole life.” As we celebrate the Family Rosary Crusade, we also foster the importance of family and how it will lead us to the grace of God” he said.
As the celebration ended, Dominicans and guests were left with a sense of fulfilment and inspiration from Fr. Lindo’s homily. With the remaining days from the FRC, the Dominican faithful look forward to more awe-inspiring words from the priests and enrich their spirits through the Word of God.
