On the first day of the 32nd Family Rosary Crusade on September 27, 2026, the Gospel from Matthew 21:28–32 was reflected upon, focusing on the parable of the two sons.

Rev. Msgr. Dario V. Cabral emphasized the act of being firm with one’s decisions. There, he talked about the difference between characteristics of the eldest and the youngest child. The eldest being the one who always endures, the one who is most pressured, and the one you can count on. On the other hand, the youngest are often seen as sweet but also dependent on their parents or elder siblings. In addition, the middle child was described as the intelligent and independent one. They are also said to be the one firm with their decisions.

It reminds us that God values a changed heart over performative compliance; the eldest who initially refused but later repented and did the work was the one who actually fulfilled his father's will.

The homily teaches us that true obedience to God is measured by our actions rather than just our words. He also emphasized that “to change one’s mind is a new superpower,” because changing one’s ways can lead a person to do what is right rather than remain in wrongdoing. “Obedience demands humility,” he added.

Msgr. Cabral also connected this to Mary, who “said yes twice.” Despite the risks, Mary accepted God’s will and became the mother of His Son. “By Rosary, it’s like we’re saying yes to the will of God,” he said.

He reminded the faithful that it is dangerous to stay on the wrong side. True obedience requires commitment: “If you say yes, it means yes; if you say no, it means no.” #
