Guardian angels are guides, protectors just as how Mary is to us - Fr. Marquez, OP.

"Provided that we are regarded as children of God, and our conduct aligns with that identity, we are granted a guardian angel."

Today, October 03, 2026, the 6th day of the Family Rosary Crusade, a reading from the book of Matthew was reflected upon.

In Matthew 18:1-5, 10, we are taught that we must embrace humility like a child and value the vulnerable, whom God guards closely.

In Rev. Fr. Clarence Victor Marquez OP’s homily, he talked about guardian angels. He reminded the Dominican faithful that just like their guardian angels, Mother Mary is also there to guide them. She is there to help believers strengthen their faith, to protect them, and to bear good news.

“Ang mga anghel ay para sa mga anak ng Diyos,” he said.

(Angels are for the sons and daughters of God).

As God sends guardian angels to guide and protect people, Rev. Fr. Marquez also reminded Dominicans that they should also be messengers of God. By being messengers of God, they can live their life rooted in Christ.

“Kung turing mo sa sarili mo ay anak ng Diyos, may anghel ka,” (If you think of yourself as a son/daughter of God, then you have an angel) he said, emphasizing that the faithful should see themselves and treat others as children of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Along with this, Dominicans should also keep in mind that being a child of God is not measured by saying that they are His children but instead, it is proven by their actions. By simply forgiving, having humility and integrity, and being selfless, one can truly show that s/he is God’s child.

“Ang anak ng Diyos [ay] nakikita, nasusukat, [at] napapatunayan sa gawa,” he stated.

(A son/daughter of God is seen, measured, and proven in [his/her} actions).

Through his homily, theDominican faithful hopefully realize they have to thank their guardian angels, for they keep them protected and safe.

Today's homily highlighted that guardian angels are ministering spirits and divine messengers. Therefore, the faithful should always acknowledge and appreciate them.
